Gâto started in 2018 with a women in love with baking and new challenges

I, Laura, would bake at home on a daily basis experimenting with sourdough and vegan baking. We, my boyfriend Fergus and I, already live our daily lives while focusing on the environment, as much as we can afford. Driving less, eating local, opting for sustainable and environmentally friendly product etc.

It just made sense….

Everyday for years after my full shift as a baker, I would come home and bake some more, crazy right well it was necessary as I was determined to provide delicious pastries and desserts that have a lower carbon footprint.

So Gâto began, Gâto translates to cake in my native tongue, I choose this name to celebrate my roots and turned out it also means cat in Spanish and I looove cats destiny right?

When you support Gâto not only you support a black woman’s dream, but you support a product that was created from packaging to sourcing main ingredients with the purpose of reducing carbon footprint while optimising flavours. When you buy at Gâto you support your local farmers livelihood and make an environmentally conscious choice.

“Every step counts, sustainability start with small steps.”
